Southern Nevada Fallen Officers Quilt

Las Vegas Quilters Guild was asked to participate in making a quilt for the Fallen Law Enforcement Officers of Southern Nevada in December 2008.  The members who worked on the quilt were Joan Briggs, Sonia Hensley, Marilyn Ettinger, Victoria Brazzle and Bruce Eastman.  Each of the members brought with them their specialty to the making of this quilt.

The pictures that were given to the group were in a digitized format with a biography of each officer.  A few of the photographs were over 50 years old with one being over 100 years old.  Once the quilt was completed it was presented to
the community affairs manager, Ann Sagel.

On May 21, 2009 the quilt was unveiled with a 30-ft tall memorial statue which is displayed at the Police Memorial Park on Metro Academy Way, behind the Northwest Area Command Office.  The quilt now hangs on the third floor at City Hall.

Making this quilt truly touched each one of us.  It brings home the realization of how fragile life is and of the ultimate sacrifice these officers gave.  May they NEVER be forgotten.
